Many changes are coming to the project, and one of them has to do with the website.  Instead of static pages, most of the content that was in the website will now appear in the wiki, and the news will be posted in this “tumblelog.”

I do not want to lose what I have written so far, so I’ve chosen to post it here.

Plans have changed dramatically. FoI might get new name, concept and objectives. The first thing to mention is that now I’ll focus on making OpenPalace the client of choice, and PalaceChat the desktop alternative to it.

I’ve also decided that this will be a collaboration project. I’ll start with a small team of volunteers, and when a small community and a solid concept have been established, allow the community to contribute to its development.

This palace will still be very much fantasy and roleplay -inspired. It’ll have much roleplay activity, there’ll be a fictional world, and definitely, a main theme.

A wiki has been created on PBWorks. Right now, only I can edit it, but in a couple of months, I’ll probably start seeking volunteers for the project. I’ll need artists (mainly for avatars, props and backgrounds), writers, and a scripter or two. I still don’t know if I’ll be moving the whole site over to the wiki, but it’s a possibility.

And finally, I need to start saving some money to upgrade the server to an unlimited plan, get a domain name, and so on… The ideal thing would be to host everything (the website, the forums, the wiki and the palace itself) on a same place, but it won’t be possible for now. I’ll continue with Imperial Palaces.

Well, here I am again! It seems that Imperial Palaces had problems with their data center or something, and they had to go down, some data was lost, some was then recovered (luckily for me), and now it’s all back to normal. But for a while, I thought I had lost this website and my palace’s files.

It’s all over now, though, and I’m trying to start working on my palace for real. Trying to decide about the room art. I’m having problems with that area. I don’t know if I’ll be able to find the room art I need, so maybe I’ll have to create it, somehow, or draw it… But I don’t think I’m that good at drawing nature, so… I hope I won’t have to end up doing that.

Currently updating the website with more content. Also, I stillneed an Iptscrae scripter, so if anyone’s got some free time to spare, I’d appreciate it.

News section is now open. I’ll add an automated system later on. There might be a member directory as well, to keep track of the people who frequent the palace.

I’m in need of scripting help! If you’re insterested, contact me atarwym_x at yahoo.com. I’m trying to learn Iptscrae myself, but there are things that aren’t very clear to me, and I need help in understanding them. So the help is very much appreciated.

During this important month (month in which I was born!), theForest of Illusions palace project finally began to take shape. The server, this website, the planning… I’m very happy about it, because I’ve wanted to have a Palace server since around 2006-2007!
